Human lives are constantly being
altered by new technologies. Perhaps, the biggest change in this is the way
humans are now being treated and lives saved by Medical Robots. Previously
there had been many errors in the medical care, which mainly included human
errors like team instability and distractions and lack of precision. With
Medical Robots, various kinds of surgeries can be performed with minimal deep
invasions inside human body and are more successful.
Medical
Robots are being used to diagnose and treat various conditions with precision.
Kaur talks about some of its many uses in “How medical robots are going to
affect our lives”. Nano-robots are used in our blood streams to treat cancer.
Being few nanometers in size, they can easily locate and treat diseased cells.
Another important technology includes Tele-surgery for remote surgeries.
Surgeons can treat patients out in the battlefield without putting their own
lives in mortal danger. Da Vinci is another Medical Robot that is widely used
and is very effective. It conducts
surgeries with great visualization and thus can perform open-heart surgery and
many other complex procedures (Kaur 2012).
Medical Robots are being used extensively in many departments of
healthcare including performing surgeries and afterwards patient healthcare.
The only thing that is perhaps remaining is the fact that these robots cannot
make their own decisions. A future use could include a new advancement in
Medical Robots where they can make their own decisions and overcome shortcomings
incase surgeon’s judgment is impaired.
